What I Want to Leave Room for in Sound Work

I am interested in sound as an experience that can be difficult to put into words. There is the tone itself, the way it changes, and the attention we bring to it. I think there is value in leaving room for the experience before trying to explain it.

The word vibration can carry many meanings in wellness conversations. I want to be careful with that language. A personal or spiritual understanding of sound is different from a medical claim, and I do not want the two to become confused.

My understanding of this work leaves space for individual responses. Some people may enjoy a sustained tone, while others may prefer less sound or a different volume. Comfort and personal preference belong in the conversation, rather than being treated as obstacles to the experience.

I also think a sound sessioncan be meaningful without a dramatic result. Listening, noticing, and having time away from ordinary demands can be enough to explore. There is no need to turn every pause into a story about transformation.

As I reflect on sound work, I want to keep that openness. I can share my interest in the experience while respecting that another person's understanding may be different from mine.

A Few Questions I Am Often Asked

What is sound vibrational therapy?

It is a one-on-one session where you rest and listen while singing bowls and other instruments play. I use the words sound meditation for group settings, and sound vibrational therapy for private sessions Either way, there is nothing you need to do but listen.

Is sound work a medical treatment?

No. Sound work is a personal and spiritual practice for me, not a medical claim, and it is not a replacement for medical or mental health care. If you are curious what research says about meditation in general, the National Center for Complementary and Integrative Healthkeeps an honest overview.

Where do sessions take place?

Private sessions are held in person at the Empower House Community Gathering Space in North Phoenix, Arizona. Group sound meditations happen there too, and you can find upcoming dates on the events page
